1. Agreement to these Terms

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using AegisClip (the “App”) or the AegisClip website (the “Website”), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the applicable service.

The App is distributed through the Apple App Store. Apple’s App Store terms and applicable end-user license terms also apply. Mandatory consumer rights in your jurisdiction are not limited by these Terms.

2. Description of the service

AegisClip is a local-first clipboard workflow for macOS and iOS. The macOS App may include clipboard history, search and tags, Auto Paste and Step Paste, text tools, screenshots, local OCR, import and export, optional iCloud sync, optional connections to third-party AI services, and browser-based external search actions. The iOS App provides clipboard history and optional iCloud sync, with clipboard recording off by default and available only after your explicit choice.

Features may change as the Apps evolve and may differ by platform. Some macOS features require macOS permissions, an Apple Account, network access, an API key, a compatible third-party service, or a paid entitlement. The iOS App does not currently include AI, API-key, browser-search, screenshot, OCR, or ignored-app features.

3. License and restrictions

Subject to these Terms and applicable App Store rules, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on supported devices you control for lawful personal or business purposes.

• Do not resell, sublicense, or distribute the App except where law expressly permits.
• Do not attempt to bypass licensing, security, privacy, or technical restrictions.
• Do not reverse engineer or create derivative works except to the extent that applicable law does not allow that restriction.
• Do not use the App or Website to violate law, harm others, or interfere with the service.

4. Your content and responsibilities

You retain responsibility for content you copy, store, export, sync, submit to an AI service, or send through support. You must have the right to process and disclose that content and must comply with confidentiality, privacy, intellectual-property, employment, and other applicable obligations.

5. Local storage, iCloud, and macOS-only online features

5.1 Local-first storage

Core App data is stored locally by default in the applicable App container. On iOS, clipboard recording is off by default, occurs only while the iOS App is active after your explicit choice, and can be turned off at any time. You control your device, backups, exports, history settings, and deletion actions. Local-first does not mean every optional feature is offline.

5.2 Optional iCloud sync

If you enable iCloud sync, eligible data is processed through Apple iCloud / CloudKit under your Apple Account and Apple’s terms. Availability and synchronization depend on Apple services, network access, account status, storage, and connected devices.

5.3 Optional macOS AI providers

If you use the macOS AI features, the macOS App connects from your device to the provider or custom endpoint you configure. Built-in choices currently include OpenAI, Anthropic (Claude), Google Gemini, OpenRouter, SiliconFlow, Kimi (Moonshot AI), DeepSeek, MiniMax, Zhipu GLM, Alibaba Qwen (DashScope), Volcano Ark (Doubao), plus a generic OpenAI-compatible option. The macOS App discloses applicable data categories and requests explicit consent before sending them. The iOS App does not include AI features.

You are responsible for the provider account, API key, model, endpoint, charges, acceptable-use rules, data settings, and results. AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, or unsuitable. Verify important output before relying on or applying it.

5.4 macOS External search actions

macOS external search actions place the current query in an HTTPS URL and open it in your default browser. They do not use the configured AI provider, API key, AI consent, or AI privacy scanner. You are responsible for reviewing the query and target. The browser and target website may retain the URL or query under their own settings and terms. The iOS App does not include external search actions.

6. Third-party services

The App and Website may interact with Apple, AI providers, custom endpoints, hosting, analytics, bot-protection, and email-delivery services. Those services are operated by third parties under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control their availability, security, retention, pricing, model behavior, regional processing, or changes.

Links or integrations do not imply endorsement. You should review the terms and privacy settings of a service before enabling or using it.

7. Purchases and refunds

Downloads, trials, purchases, taxes, payment processing, family sharing, and refunds are handled through Apple and are subject to App Store rules and regional law. Prices and feature availability may change. Unless required by law, we cannot directly issue or reverse an App Store transaction.

8. Intellectual property

The App, Website, branding, design, software, and original content are owned by the AegisClip developer or applicable licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership to you.

If you voluntarily provide feedback, you allow us to use it to improve AegisClip without payment or attribution, provided we do not claim ownership of your underlying personal content.

9. Availability and changes

We may update, add, limit, suspend, or remove features for security, compatibility, legal, technical, or product reasons. We do not promise that every feature, provider, model, language, or integration will remain available.

You are responsible for maintaining backups appropriate to the sensitivity and importance of your data. Do not use clipboard history as your only copy of important information.

10. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App and Website are provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted availability, and error-free operation where such disclaimers are permitted.

AegisClip is a productivity tool, not legal, medical, financial, security, or professional advice. AI output and OCR results require independent review.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages; loss of data, profits, reputation, or business; third-party service failures; or decisions based on AI or OCR output. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

12. Termination

You may stop using the App or Website at any time. We may restrict access to Website services or terminate rights under these Terms if required by law, necessary to protect the service or others, or in response to a material breach. Provisions that by their nature should survive will remain effective.

13. Applicable law and disputes

Applicable law and courts depend on the parties, transaction, and mandatory rules in your jurisdiction. Before filing a claim, please contact us and allow a reasonable opportunity to resolve the issue informally. Mandatory consumer-protection and dispute rights remain unaffected.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect product, provider, legal, or operational changes. We will update the date above and provide an appropriate notice for material changes. Your continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms to the extent permitted by law.
